On July 21, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan hosted a meeting of the working group on consumer market issues in the Republic of Tatarstan devoted to the “Retail Trade Progress in the First Half of 2017; Interaction of Retail Chains with Suppliers”. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Denis Valeyev, representatives of the State Alcohol Inspectorate of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Agriculture and Foods of Tatarstan, the Executive Committee of Kazan, the Consumers Union of Tatarstan and invited executives of retail chains.
The participants to the meeting were informed about the results of retail trade development in the Republic of Tatarstan in the first half of the year. The meeting also discussed such topical issues of the sector as cooperation with local commodity producers, the problem of returning unsold goods to suppliers, implementation of the Law on State Languages in the Republic of Tatarstan, and events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Minister presented letters of commendation to the heads of trading companies for their active cooperation aimed at developing and improving retail trade in Tatarstan and in honour of their professional holiday, the Salesperson Day.
On July 23, a grand air show titled “I Opt for the Sky” will be held near the Kazan Family Centre. For 5 years, the event gathers tens of thousands of people, including aviation industry professionals, experts, veterans, students, and just residents and guests of Kazan that are not indifferent to aviation, flights, and sky. Thanks to the high level of organisation and popularity of the holiday, it was our city in this season that was chosen to host a round of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship to be held for the first time in Russia. A unique tandem of two large-scale events will bring the aviation holiday to a fundamentally new level of authority.
The show, which Kazan residents and visitors will see on July 23 near the Kazan Family Centre, includes performances of aircraft modellers and bikers, display of unmanned aerial vehicles, vocational guidance counselling, master classes, as well as opportunities of face-to-face interaction with aerospace experts and people who conquered the sky.
The I Opt for the Sky event is not only a spectacular show, but also the introduction of young people to a healthy lifestyle and another step towards choosing a serious and exciting profession.
The opening event will take place on July 23 at 11.30 with the participation of the republic's officials and aviation veterans; it includes the ceremony of presenting Tatarstan Government awards.
Applications for participation in the National Import Substitution Prize contest titled “Priority-2017” were opened in May this year. The contest events are held for the third time.
The Priority Prize is an annual contest organised to support and encourage manufacturers in the field of competitive substitution of goods and services. This is the Russia's first and only reputable prize within the professional community, a wide-scale, branded award being presented to the best enterprises in the country that have achieved the greatest success in the field of import substitution. It is expected that more than 450 companies will take part in the Priority-2017 competitions.
For its two years of existence, over 600 companies took part in the competitions, and more than 80 of them became its winners. To date, the National Priority Prize is a highly effective marketing tool for the most successful Russian companies that create import-substituting products.

The Russian Helicopters Holding and the State Transport Leasing Company (STLC) have concluded a contract, which provides for the supply of twelve Ansat medevac helicopters.
The contract was signed within the framework of the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2017; the signatories to it were Director General of Russian Helicopters Andrey Boginsky and Director General of STLC Sergey Khramagin. According to the contract, a total of 18 Mi-8AMT and Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters manufactured by the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant and 12 Ansat helicopters from Kazan will be delivered to STLC in 2018.
Ansat is a light twin-engine multirole helicopter with a hydro-mechanical flight control system (HMCS). In May 2015, the modification with a medical module was certified. It complies with all international standards for medical aviation services and allows saving a patient’s life during transporting to a hospital.
The medevac Ansat has a number of competitive advantages over rivals in its class. First of all, it requires less operational, training and maintenance expenses. In addition, it can maintain high speed, which allows using it for long-range flights.
According to the helicopter’s certificate, its design allows to convert it into a cargo version or into a passenger rotorcraft that can lift up to seven people, in just one hour.
The Ford Sollers company has brought the localisation level of the 1.6-litre Ford Duratec engine manufactured in Yelabuga up to 78%. The high level of engine localisation at the Yelabuga plant became possible due to attaining full operational capacity. To date, more than 30,000 powertrains have been produced, a significant part of which is made in Russia from Russian raw materials.
The increase in the localisation level of the power unit popular with Russian buyers makes it possible to increase the economic efficiency of production and to reduce the effect of exchange rates fluctuations on the production costs.
In Russia, a time-tested gasoline atmospheric 4-cylinder engine of the Duratec series with a capacity of 1.6 litres is produced. The Duratec engines with 85 to 125 hp are used to equip Ford Fiesta sedans and hatchbacks, EcoSport subcompact crossovers, and the best-selling Ford model in Russia, Ford Focus.
The Ford Sollers engine plant in Yelabuga opened in September 2015 was the first foreign-brand engine-building enterprise in Russia. The new plant is equipped with the most advanced high-tech equipment; its production automation level reaches 95%. The engine production processes includes machining the crankshaft, cylinder head and cylinder block, assembly line, and a quality control line. The equipment at every department meets all the requirements of productivity, environmental friendliness, and safety in accordance with the global Ford standards
With a view to supporting small and medium-sized businesses and developing cooperative links between enterprises, a republic’s project for the overhaul and restoration of equipment is under development, which would increase the vehicle fleet's availability ratio up to 97% and reduce the vehicle fleet maintenance costs down to 30%.

On July 19, the Kazan IT Park hosted the Tatarstan-Iran Business Forum. The event was attended by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, heads of republic’s ministries and agencies and members of the delegation from the Razavi Khorasan Province of Iran headed by its Governor Alireza Rashidian.
Opening the event, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed the participants of the Tatarstan-Iran Business Forum in Kazan. “Tatarstan attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran within the framework of Russian-Iranian relations,” Rustam Minnikhanov said. “Governments and business communities of our countries are making efforts to expand contacts in various fields. For our part, we are prepared to take an active part in these processes at the regional level. Tatarstan is interested in being chosen by foreign companies as a launching pad for their operations in the Russian market.”
The presentation of the Tatarstan’s tourism potential was delivered by the Chairman of the State Committee of Tatarstan for Tourism Sergey Ivanov. A representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the head of the Association of Importers and Exporters of the Razavi Khorasan Province of Iran made a presentation of the region’s industrial potential.
During the forum, suggestions were made towards developing and strengthening business ties between the Republic of Tatarstan and the Razavi Khorasan Province.
Kazan Helicopters was the first in Russia to receive the Production Organisation Approval Certificate. This document confirms the compliance of the civil aviation equipment manufacturer with the Aviation Regulations requirements and grants the right to manufacture civilian helicopters. For the Kazan Helicopters, these are Mi-172, Mi-8MTV-1, Mi-17-1V, Mi-8MTV-1 passenger version, Ansat, and Ansat-K.
In accordance with the Air Code of the Russian Federation, a civil aviation equipment manufacturer must pass certification in the body authorised by the Russian Government. The first Production Organisation Approval Certificate was issued to the Kazan Helicopters by the Aviation Register of the Interstate Aviation Committee (AR IAC) on November 22, 1999.
The Production Organisation Approval Certificate is issued for an indefinite period of time and is valid until cancelled by the authorised body. The AR IAC Commission conducted biennial field audits of the Kazan Helicopters production facilities to confirm the validity of the Certificate for another term. Effective from 9 April 2017, the Resolution of the Russian Federation Government transferred the functions of the aircraft manufacturers’ certification to the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia).
The Republic of Tatarstan and the Rostec Corporation have signed an agreement on cooperation in implementing a pilot project for the creation and development of an all-Russian aerial application system to ensure the national food security in the territory of the Republic. Within MAKS-2017, the document was signed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov and Industrial Director of the Rostec Cluster for Conventional Arms, Ammunition, and Special Chemicals Sergey Abramov.
The creation of the all-Russian system of aerial application control provides for the establishment in Russia of a centre for rendering services to country’s agricultural enterprises, the development of a single database for the registration of sown areas, the conducting of monitoring surveys, and the introduction of an electronic system for maintaining the aerial application using the GLONASS system.
