On December 28, 2017, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov presented Certificates of Honour and Letters of Appreciation to officials and employees of the Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade for their conscientious work and labour achievements.
For the first time in the history of the Russian power industry, the replacement of the electricity pylon has been made on the 10 kV live overhead line. The innovative technical solution was developed by the Buinsk Electric Networks (branch of Grid Company) jointly with experts from the Centre for Live-Line Working.
Power engineers replaced the defective wooden pole No. 26 at the 10 kV Buinsk-Kildurazy overhead line (110 kV Buinsk substation) for a reinforced concrete pylon. The work was made by a team of electricians from the Buinsk Power Distribution Zone using a mobile lift device with insulating arm and special equipment.
The experts of the Grid Company began to revive the live-line working practices in 2009. Initially, the task was to master the operations on 0.4 kV live lines. As of today, 88 teams of electricians in 9 company’s branches works with 0.4 kV overhead lines. This year, training started for live-line working on 10 kV lines; 16 teams have been trained, for which protection equipment and special equipment were purchased.

On December 25, the Korston-Kazan Hotel and Mall hosted the award ceremony for the winners of the Leader of the Year 2017 republic’s contest.
The event was attended by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Prime Minister of Tatarstan Aleksey Pesoshin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov, as well as deputies of the State Duma and the Federation Council from Tatarstan, members of the Tatarstan Government, heads of republic’s ministries and agencies, regional offices of federal authorities, republic’s municipalities, business leaders, including representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, heads of employers’ associations, trade unions and other societal organisations, representatives of religious communities, top executives from institutions of science, culture, and healthcare, and media representatives.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the audience was presented with the “Tatarstan 2017” film about the results of the outgoing year. Then, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov addressed the audience with words of welcome. In his speech, he summed the year’s activities and outlined the main tasks for 2018. Further, the Tatarstan President proceeded to present state awards.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on the creation of 6 priority development areas (PDAs), including Zelenodolsk, Nizhnekamsk, and Chistopol.
“We expect that these PDAs will attract investments in the regions totalling almost RUB 50 billion, but most importantly, what we talked about at a meeting that I held last week is, that it can be a ray of hope in the development of these regions, these individual settlements, which would create a more favourable investment environment or at least create some kind of business activities”, said Dmitry Medvedev.
The Prime Minister noted that obtaining a new status would allow mono-towns to create new jobs and reduce dependence on their city-forming enterprises. In addition to mono-towns of Tatarstan, this status was granted to Kotovsk in the Tambov Region, Nevinnomyssk in the Stavropol Territory, and Kondopoga in Karelia.
The Labour Glory Museum of the Kazan Helicopters marked 45 years since its establishment. The anniversary event was attended by guests and old-timers of the company, as well as the employees of the plant, who are actively involved in the life of the museum.
The Labour Glory Museum was established in December 1972 on the initiative of the plant’s Communist Party and trade union committees, Komsomol organisation, and long-service employees; its establishment was ordered by the then Company’s director Fyodor Aristov. Since that time, the museum has become a real hub for educating youth and promoting helicopter-engineering jobs. During the work of the museum, it was visited by about 80,000 people.
Today, the museum has present-day facilities for tours and presentations. The main museum collection has been digitised to accommodate the electronic archive of company’s documents and video chronicles, electronic presentations of the company’s main milestones and landmark events have also been prepared.
The Kazan Helicopters Museum is a member of the Russian Association of Museums at Aviation Enterprises. By the decision of the Bureau of the USSR Cosmonautics Federation, the museum was awarded the Mikhail Mil Medal for its great educational work and preserving labour traditions of aircraft builders.

On December 23, the opening ceremony of the Tyrnyasevo industrial site took place on the former premises of the Tyurnyasevo distillery; one of its residents is the Nurtrade sewing workshop.
Nurtrade started the development of garments made of Uzbek cotton for children and adults, bed linen and workwear for various enterprises, creating more than 30 new jobs with a prospect of increasing their number up to 180.
The capacity of the up-to-date production equipment at the sewing workshop will allow producing up to 45,000 knitted garments and up to 9,000 workwear garments a month. The products will be delivered to Samara, Orenburg, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia.
The opening ceremony of the sewing workshop was attended by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov, head of the Nurlat District Ravil Kuzyurov, founder of Nurtrade Khusan Agzamov, and head of the Tyurnyasevo rural settlement Sergey Belov.
The industrial development in the country is conducted in accordance with one of the May 2012 decrees by the Head of State (No. 596 “On State Long-Term Economic Policies”).
On December 20, the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg held a ceremonial event dedicated to summing up the results of 2017, inviting the representatives from city authorities, all 23 representative offices of Russian regions working in the area, and business communities.
The Committee is the main curator of the representative offices of the Russian regions in St. Petersburg, conducts analysis and monitoring, and interacts with the Governor's Office of St. Petersburg in the development of interregional relations.
Following the results of 2017, the Permanent Representative Office of the Republic of Tatarstan in the city of St. Petersburg was recognised as one of the most active representative offices in the area in terms of the number of events, business missions, presentations, cultural and educational projects, and interaction with St. Petersburg’s authorities. The Permanent Representative of Tatarstan Renat Valiullin was awarded with the Letter of Appreciation from the Chairman of the External Relations Committee of St. Petersburg for his active assistance in the development of mutually beneficial cooperation and friendly relations between St. Petersburg and the Republic of Tatarstan in 2017.
Under the contract with the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK), the Russian Helicopters Holding has delivered another medevac Ansat helicopter manufactured by the Kazan Helicopters. The rotorcraft will be operated in the Kostroma region. The helicopter became the last of the six ones delivered under the 2017 contract.
Helicopters were transferred within the framework of the top-priority project to ensure timeliness in providing emergency medical aid to citizens living in hard-to-access areas of Russia. Under the contract this year, the GTLK will receive a total of 29 helicopters.
Equipped with the newest medevac module, Ansat allows to both carry out scheduled transportation of patients and can serve the functions of an intensive care unit and monitoring of victims’ vital functions during flights to hospitals.
In the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan, a meeting was held between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov and the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by Deputy Governor of the Razavi Khorasan Province Ali Rasoulian.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of further cooperation in a number of areas, outlined steps towards coordinated decisions on topical issues.
Ali Rasoulian thanked the leaders of the republic for the high level of organising the visit of the Iranian delegation to Tatarstan and expressed the hope that the Tatarstan-Iranian relations will continue to grow.
Minister Karimov noted that Tatarstan is glad to have the opportunity of developing cooperation with its partners from Iran within the framework of the Russian-Iranian relations.
The delegation of the Razavi Khorasan Province is in Tatarstan on a working visit. On December 20, the Tatarstan-Iranian business forum was held on the Kazanskaya Yarmarka premises. Then the second specialised exhibition of Iranian goods was opened, which will run until December 23. As part of their visit to Kazan, members of the Iranian delegation visited Kazan Federal University, IT Park, Kazanorgsintez, and the Tatarstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
