Thanks to the coordinated work of its responsible authorities and the activities of the Regional Competence Centre in Labour Productivity, Tatarstan was awarded in The Most Active Region category at the 3rd Productivity 360 Federal Forum held in Nizhny Novgorod.
The Productivity 360 Forum is traditionally Russia’s main venue for sharing experience in the sphere of lean manufacturing and replication of best practices in increasing labour productivity. The Forum was held on June 15-16, 2021 in Nizhny Novgorod, bringing together representatives of Russian governmental authorities, public associations, social organisations, Russian companies leading in building production systems based on lean principles, as well as enterprises participating in the Labour Productivity national project.
Tatarstan is one of the leaders in involving enterprises in the national Labour Productivity project, having joined the number of pilot regions back in 2017 to help enterprises improve their productivity.
By the end of 2020, Tatarstan has outperformed its key indicators. A total of 119 republic’s enterprises are improving their processes within the framework of the Labour Productivity national project (the target by 2024 is to involve 249 enterprises). About 1.5 times more people have been trained in the basics of lean manufacturing than planned.
A total of 13 Tatarstan-based industrial enterprises presented their products under the Made in Tatarstan brand at the UzExpoCentre Exhibition and Convention Centre today, as part of the Tatarstan-Uzbekistan Business Forum.
The exhibition was visited by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov, and other officials.
It should be recalled that the Tatarstan delegation headed by President Rustam Minnikhanov, is on a two-day visit to Uzbekistan.
During the visit, the Tatarstan delegation will take part in a number of meetings with leaders of the Republic of Uzbekistan to discuss the status of, and prospects for, mutually beneficial cooperation between the republics in various fields, an exhibition of the industrial potential in Tatarstan will be held within the Tatarstan-Uzbekistan Business Forum, and President Rustam Minnikhanov will traditionally meet with representatives of local Tatar public organisations.

The exports structure is mainly composed of deliveries of land vehicles, plastics and their products, timber, rubbers, crude oil, and oil products. Repair-Mechanical Plant of Nizhnekamskneftekhim manufactures and repairs the capacitive heat-exchange equipment. Recently, the enterprise has summarised its first results of participation in the Labour Productivity national project. It was implemented with the support from experts of the Federal Competence Centre (FCC). Over 6 months of the project, the efficiency of employees increased by 50%.
According to Roman Batrasov, FCC project manager, the site optimised the process of manufacturing a part of the drying machine for rubber extraction, the worm shaft.
Production was delayed, for example, by running large batches of worm bushings, which led to waiting times, idle equipment, and schedule overruns. During the project, the minimum batch size was reduced to 6 pieces. In addition, the limiting equipment was previously out of action for up to 4 hours a week due to breakdowns. Now the number of stoppages due to breakdowns has been reduced to zero.
According to the plant director, the national project experience will be replicated in other production areas. These include improvements of work efficiency in the procurement department, design and engineering department, warehouse, etc.
It should be added that as of today 116 regional companies in Tatarstan have joined the implementation of the Labour Productivity national project. By 2024, this figure should increase to 249.
The Russian government has begun drafting a new strategy for the country’s socio-economic development. It should determine how to tackle the tasks set out in Vladimir Putin’s July Decree “On National Development Goals of Russian Federation until 2030”. National projects, including the Labour Productivity project, have also been adjusted as part of this work. Ilya Semin, Chairman of the Public Advisory Board of Labour Productivity national project and head of Professionals 2.0 ONF project, talked about innovations that came into force in 2021.
Lean manufacturing experts, when presenting the benefits of their work to business managers, often talk about an outsider’s view of processes that may have taken years to develop in a company, often in a haphazard way. When discussing productivity with experts and business leaders, digitalisation comes up first and foremost.
A prototype productivity ecosystem, as the Russian Ministry of Economic Development recently told us, is now being tested at the first seven enterprises. In essence, it is the “digital twin” of the FCC and RCC experts, which allows for remote business diagnostics. The platform will contain a system of virtual workstations for managers and employees to provide work in the following areas: training, enterprise research, change management, operational monitoring of business and production, sales and procurement. It is intended to be a good tool for business development.
The team of POZIS (part of the Tecmash Concern under the Rostec Corporation) was among the top three in the WorldSkills 2021 qualifying contest of the Rostec Corporation in the lifecycle management skill. The contest was held in a full-time format in Moscow.
The team, which consisted of young design engineers, process engineers, an economist, and experts in technical and humanitarian areas, had to develop a modular farm to ensure the maintenance and support of the life and health of cattle. The entire process had to take place in a completely self-sufficient manner.
The company’s specialists performed the task brilliantly, showing high professionalism in the design under conditions of limited resources. The project was highly praised by the experts for the design and original approach in solving these problems.
Decent performance in the corporate qualifying contest gave young specialists of POZIS an opportunity to enter Rostec team to take part in the finals of WorldSkills Hi-Tech’2021 contest that will take place in autumn in Yekaterinburg. This is Russia’s largest professional skills competition among young professionals from major domestic corporations and holdings.
Dear current and retired employees of textile and light industries of Tatarstan! On behalf of the Government of Tatarstan and on my personal behalf, I congratulate you on your professional holiday, the Day of Textile and Light Industry Workers!
The light industry remains one of the most important non-resource industries of our economy, which makes a worthy contribution to the socio-economic development of Tatarstan and has a significant impact on the development of small and midsize businesses in the region.
Thank you for your daily reliable work, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through your efforts and diversification of production we have been able to provide healthcare institutions and our people with personal protective equipment.
Industry’s long-service employees deserve special thanks; they have devoted many years of their lives to light industry, contributing greatly to its development. Even today they remain a moral guide for the younger generation.
I wish you new successes, reliable business partners, initiative and persistence, not to rest on your laurels, successfully participate in the implementation of investment projects, introduce advanced manufacturing technologies, expand sales markets!
Good health, prosperity, and optimism to you and your close ones!
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov
Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov chaired a meeting today at Kazancompressormash on the subject of “Tasks of Introducing Innovations and Diversifying Production in Industrial Enterprises”.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov reported on the results of industrial enterprises in Tatarstan for 4 months of 2021 and their problems in innovative development and diversification.
The industry shipped out RUB 1,155 billion worth of products. The largest share is accounted for by petroleum products, chemicals, petrochemicals, mining products, and mechanical engineering. The index of industrial production in oil refining, chemical industry, and light industry has been growing during the last months.
The head of the Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade dwelt separately on the tasks facing the defence industry enterprises, recalling that the President of Russia has set a goal to reach 30% of the output of civilian products by 2025.
The issues of innovation and digitalisation were not ignored either. For example, according to surveys conducted by the Ministry in recent years, only a quarter of companies are willing to invest in the development of their own technology and the acquisition of third-party technology. And the proportion of such companies has not grown over the years. The situation is roughly the same for digitalisation.
