As part of his working visit to Tashkent, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Sardor Umurzakov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov.
The Tatarstan President thanked the host country for holding the Tatarstan-Uzbekistan Business Forum, which, according to Rustam Minnikhanov, will contribute to further development of cooperation.
“Our visit to your country is associated with the need to further strengthen work to develop cooperation, primarily in economy. All this is aimed at bolstering relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan. The pandemic has set us back a little, but we have to intensify contacts”, the Tatarstan President said.
Bilateral trade turnover between Tatarstan and Uzbekistan reached $156.5 million in 2020. The exports structure is mainly composed of deliveries of land vehicles, plastics and their products, timber, rubbers, crude oil, and oil products. Last year’s main imports are plastics, textile products, and articles of clothing.
In turn, Sardor Umurzakov said that Uzbekistan is interested in further comprehensive strengthening of cooperation with Tatarstan. “Your visit is significant for us. Tatarstan is one of the most developed regions in the Russian Federation in all respects”, the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan said.
