On November 16, Kazan will host the 4th All-Russian Applied Research Conference titled “Unfair Competition and Business. Impact on Development”.
The Conference is organised by the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the FAS Russia Resource Centre, and the Tatarstan Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service.
It is intended to discuss the impact of unfair competition on business development, on the standing of small, medium-sized, and large businesses in sales markets, on the sales of goods, jobs, and services, and on the production market. Representatives of FAS Russia will present case studies of unfair competition and conduct an analysis of the most interesting, high profile cases in this field. At the end of the Conference, it is suggested to work out proposals for improving the protection tools against unfair competition and raising legal awareness of business entities.
Participation in the Conference is free of charge.
Today, the Korston Hotel &Mall in Kazan saw ceremonial events dedicated to the 60th anniversary of NPO GIPO. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov, and many others came to congratulate the company’s staff.
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the employees of the NGO GIPO for their fruitful work for the benefit of Tatarstan and Russia in general, as well as for a worthy contribution to the development of domestic optoelectronic industry. He also said that an agreement was signed today between the Government of Tatarstan and Schwabe on cooperation in developing scientific, technology, industrial, and intellectual potential of production, scientific, and educational organisations located in Tatarstan.
The Scientific and Production Association “State Institute of Applied Optics” (NPO GIPO) is a federal-level research and production centre that carries out comprehensive studies of fundamental, exploratory, and applied nature, as well as the development and production of advanced optoelectronic systems.
The core activities of the association include thermal imaging devices, optoelectronic channels for various purposes, research of optical characteristics of objects and backgrounds, metrological support of IR equipment, optical coatings, diffraction and aspherical optics, and IR lenses.
The arrival of volunteering employees of Boeing to Kazan has become a tradition. For the third year running, a joint educational initiative of Boeing and Junior Achievement Russia, “Aviation from A to Z”, include lectures in Kazan schools.
The programme of Aviation from A to Z incorporates several formats, an online knowledge test in aviation, lectures of volunteers from Boeing, and a contest of innovative solutions. Each year, several thousand schoolchildren take part in the programme, and for the third year now, lectures are held in Kazan schools, along with Moscow.
On November 9-10, Boeing experts delivered lectures at the IT Lyceum of the Kazan Federal University, the Lyceum Engineering Centre, and held a separate open lecture at the First Children's Coworking site, which were attended by school companies of Kazan. The presentation topics were “History of Aviation”, “How the Plane Flies”, and “History of the Boeing 747 Legendary Model”.
The lectures were attended by a total of 300 Kazan students of grades 5-11.
On November 9, the Academician Kirpichnikov Lyceum with Extensive Learning of Chemistry for Gifted Children, a branch of the Kazan National Research Technological University (KNRTU), hosted a meeting of its Board of Trustees chaired by Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov.
Lyceum students met the trustees with chemical experiments conducted in accordance with WorldSkills standards in the Laboratory Chemical Analysis (the Lyceum had just finished the zonal competitions of Juniors WorldSkills), as well as with demonstrations of their success in prototyping, engineering design, laser technologies, and 3D-modelling. These activities are based on the Orbital Centre for Youth Innovation Creativity, operating in the Chemical Lyceum since February this year.
During the meeting, the trustees discussed the results of the year, the Lyceum’s development strategy for 2017-2020, new models of cooperation on Rusnano projects, early vocational guidance of gifted schoolchildren, preparation for the Juniors WorldSkills within the framework of the Orbital CYIC and the Lift to the Future project, as well as sponsoring opportunities for the lyceum.

Within the framework of the agreement signed by Rosoboronexport, the Russian Helicopters Holding will sell an additional batch of two military transport helicopters Mi-17V-5 manufactured at the Kazan Helicopters to the Ministry of Defence of Thailand.
At the moment, over 4,500 Mi-8/17 helicopters fly today in more than 90 countries worldwide. The majority of helicopters are currently operated in the Asian-Pacific, CIS, African, and Middle East countries.
In Tatarstan, with the support from the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, a social campaign was held in support of the All-Russian Energy Saving Festival #VmesteYarche (Brighter Together).
The Festival was first held last year at the initiative of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs. The Festival was organised in major cities and regional centres throughout Russia. The Festival’s format is a family holiday and a social campaign to promote energy conservation.
This year, Tatarstan sponsored the holding of the Festival with a large-scale social campaign that took place in September-October 2017, comprising the following activities:
- Energy saving lessons in educational institutions;
- Meetings of executives of FEC companies with students;
- Open days at FEC companies;
- Visits of students and schoolchildren to the Tatarstan Centre of Energy Saving Competences and Technologies, and other events.
A total of 16 organisations and enterprises of the Fuel and Energy Complex, about 20 municipal districts and more than 150 educational establishments of Tatarstan took part in the social campaign.
Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov visited the MNPO Endomedium+. During the visit, Minister Karimov was introduced to innovative products manufactured at the enterprise. In addition, a discussion was held on the issues of the company’s further development.
As of now, Endomedium+ produces over 30 types of instruments and more than 260 types of tools and accessories for minimally invasive endo-surgery, equipment and instruments for laparoscopic surgery, gynaecology, thoracoscopy, arthroscopy, rhinoscopy, liposuction, and sub-fascial dissection of perforating veins.
In the development of new instruments and tools, more than 30 patents for inventions were obtained, which allowed the introduction of new technologies into medical practice. For 25 years of the company's activity, endosurgical equipment has been manufactured and delivered to more than 5,000 medical institutions in Russia and the CIS. Over 7 million endo-surgery procedures were performed using the Endomedium+ equipment and more than 7,000 doctors operate its endo-surgical complexes.
Today, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan hosted a round table discussion on measures to market the food products by republic’s organisations and individual entrepreneurs, which meet the requirements of quality and safety of food products, including those marked with the National Trademark. The event was attended by deputies of the Tatarstan State Council, representatives of ministries and agencies of Tatarstan, and business community.
Addressing the audience, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Denis Valeyev stressed that solving the current tasks of economic development in certain areas requires an integrated approach. The speech by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan Nikolay Titov was devoted to the opportunities for expanding the range of production and processing of agricultural produce in the context of the commodity embargo of Russia, as well as the problems of marketing products through trade chains. Director General of GUP National Trademark Ilsur Safiullin described measures to promote food products marked with the National Trademark.
At the end of the meeting, Deputy Chairman of a parliamentary committee Marat Galeyev emphasised that it is the market that will determine the relations between producers and the trade system.
From 14 to 15 November 2017, a delegation of Finnish companies headed by the Ambassador of Finland to Russia Mikko Hautala will visit Kazan. The delegation will comprise representatives of 26 Finnish companies from various sectors of the Finland’s economy.
The aims of the visit is to establish and strengthen ties between Finnish and Tatarstan companies, to seek new cooperation opportunities, and to explore the investment potential of Tatarstan.
On Tuesday, November 14, the Tatarstan-Finnish business forum will be held, within the framework of which business talks with Finnish companies are scheduled in the following areas:
- Industrial equipment;
- Construction and infrastructure;
- Food industry equipment;
- Forest industry equipment;
- Logistics;
- Educational services;
- Services for businesses.
In addition, the visit programme also comprises cultural events timed to the centenary of Finland's independence.
The plants and subdivisions of KAMAZ summed up the results of fulfilling the October 2017 production plan. Some 14 percent more vehicles were manufactured than in the ten months last year.
In October, 4,418 vehicle sets were produced (compared to 4,058 in October 2016). This figure reached the level of 30,907 vehicle sets since the beginning of the year, up 14 percent compared to the ten months of the last year (27,156 y-o-y).
Earlier, KAMAZ increased assembly rates up to 200 trucks a day, while the year's new vehicles – Kamaz-6580, Kamaz-65801 and Kamaz-65802 – rolled off the assembly line alongside with serial ones. In accordance with the 2017 business plan, the company intends to sell 36,000 vehicles, of which 6,000 on the foreign markets.
