Our task is to ensure the republic’s gross regional product (GRP) in the amount at least RUB 5 trillion by 2030. This was announced today at the final Collegium of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan by President Rustam Minnikhanov.

The main report entitled “Results of Industrial and Consumer Market Development in Tatarstan in 2019, Tasks for 2020 and Prospects until 2024. National Projects in Industry” was delivered by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov.

During his speech, the Tatarstan President emphasised that all 40 republic’s programmes were implemented in the republic in 2019. Own budget revenues of Tatarstan, according to President Minnikhanov, amounted to almost RUB 300 billion. This is a big figure, he stressed, but there is serious potential for growth.

At the today’s Collegium of the Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov recalled that the country’s leadership has been able to take unprecedented steps towards reducing the debt burden of defence industry.

Speaking about the economic development of Tatarstan in 2019, Yuri Borisov stressed that the industrial production output in the region reached RUB 2.8 trillion.

He also said that our manufacturing industry would have an opportunity to develop by only relying on own domestic producers, on domestic markets. Serious reserves for the growth of the Russian economy are laid in national projects, he noted.

Last year, the Tatarstan-Serbian trade turnover grew almost 2 times exceeding $100 million. This was announced today by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov at a meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic. The meeting was held in the Kazan Kremlin.

The main purpose of the Serbian Foreign Minister’s visit to Kazan was to participate in the plenary session of the Intergovernmental Russian-Serbian Committee on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan pays great attention to expanding business ties with Serbian companies. The republic supplies to Serbia rubber, rubber products, engineering products, plastics, petrochemicals. At the same time, Tatarstan imports various types of equipment, metal products, and vehicles for land transport. President of Tatarstan expressed confidence that $100 million turnover is far from the limit. There is great potential for developing ties in such areas as oil refining and petrochemicals, energy, engineering, automotive and component manufacturing, IT and other high technologies, medicine and pharmaceuticals, agribusiness, etc.

Minister Dacic thanked the republic’s officials for the high level of organising the visit of the Serbian delegation, as well as for creating all necessary conditions for holding a Russian-Serbian Intergovernmental Committee meeting.

On March 5, the Lenin Cultural and Leisure Centre saw the expanded Collegium meeting of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan under the title of “Results of Industrial and Consumer Market Development in Tatarstan in 2019, Tasks for 2020 and Prospects until 2024. The industrial production volume in 2019 amounted to RUB 2,877 billion, the industrial production index constituted 101%. The retail turnover was RUB 952.7 billion. The number of workers involved in industry and trade totalled 481,000.

In general, 2020 poses many challenges. These are national projects, industrial safety, R&D. An equally important task is the interaction of enterprises with large holdings. But the main thing is to ensure economic growth by removing bottlenecks.

An exhibition of republic’s enterprises was also organised as part of the final Collegium of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan. This exhibition was visited by high-ranking guests, including Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Chairman of the Tatarstan State Council Farit Mukhametshin, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov.

On February 27, the Zelenodolsk Shipyard hosted an expanded meeting of the interagency working group on expanding the use of gas motor fuels in Tatarstan (compressed and liquefied natural gas) with the participation of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov. From the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan, the meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Ildar Mingaleyev.

The participants to the meeting discussed the development of the gas engine fuel market in the Russian Federation, the current state and development plans of the gas engine fuel market in Tatarstan, as well as the prospects for the development of liquefied natural gas in river and road transport.

Tatarstan is a pilot region for introducing the technologies and developing the markets of compressed natural and liquefied gas.

In 2019, an Agreement was signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on construction of a natural gas liquefaction complex and the network of cryogenic filling stations in Tatarstan. In October 2019, a roadmap was signed in Innopolis for the creation of the country’s first river ship running on liquefied natural gas, and today the Zelenodolsk Shipyard held a keel-laying ceremony of this vessel, the Chaika river recreational ship of project 03622 with LNG-powered engines.

On February 27, the Zelenodolsk Shipyard (part of the Ak Bars Shipbuilding Corporation) saw a keel-laying ceremony of the LNG-powered Chaika passenger river ship with the participation of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Ildar Mingaleyev, Member of Gazprom Management Board Vyacheslav Mikhalenko, Director of the Department of State Policy for Maritime and River Transport at the Russian Ministry of Transport Yuri Kostin, Head of Zelenodolsk Executive Committee Mikhail Afanasyev, etc.

Tatarstan has become one of the first regions where, jointly with Gazprom subsidiaries, systemic work is underway to expand the use of natural gas as a motor fuel in various modes of transport and in various industries. Switching over to LNG would allow operating companies to reduce their inland water transport costs.

The Chaika passenger river ship (with a capacity of 150-170 passengers) was designed by the Zelenodolsk Design Bureau as a single-hull steel motor boat with the engine room aft and the bridge in the fore part. The ship is assumed to make pleasure trips and sightseeing voyages along inland waterways.
