Last year, the Tatarstan-Serbian trade turnover grew almost 2 times exceeding $100 million. This was announced today by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov at a meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic. The meeting was held in the Kazan Kremlin.
The main purpose of the Serbian Foreign Minister’s visit to Kazan was to participate in the plenary session of the Intergovernmental Russian-Serbian Committee on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation.
Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan pays great attention to expanding business ties with Serbian companies. The republic supplies to Serbia rubber, rubber products, engineering products, plastics, petrochemicals. At the same time, Tatarstan imports various types of equipment, metal products, and vehicles for land transport. President of Tatarstan expressed confidence that $100 million turnover is far from the limit. There is great potential for developing ties in such areas as oil refining and petrochemicals, energy, engineering, automotive and component manufacturing, IT and other high technologies, medicine and pharmaceuticals, agribusiness, etc.
Minister Dacic thanked the republic’s officials for the high level of organising the visit of the Serbian delegation, as well as for creating all necessary conditions for holding a Russian-Serbian Intergovernmental Committee meeting.
