TatkhimPlast has launched a new line for the production of high-tech polymer compounds in Kazan for moulding automotive elements, various parts of washing machines, refrigerators and TV sets, as well as for manufacture of building materials.
With the attraction of a soft loan, the company acquired state-of-the-art equipment to create a new high-tech compound facility with a capacity of 12,000 tonnes a year. The company’s total production output grew almost twofold to 25,000 tonnes a year.
Polymer compound (thermoplastic composite) is a multicomponent material that consists of a polymer matrix, modifying additives, and fillers. Its main areas of application are the automotive industry (parts of the exterior, interior, engine compartment, and HVAC systems), household appliances and electronics (bodies and internal parts of refrigerators and washing machines, TV sets), the construction industry (facing panels, drainage systems, pipes for hot and cold water supply). TatkhimPlast materials are used by such companies as Ford, UAZ, Samsung, Schneider Electric, Docke Extrusion, and Vox.
Due to expansion of TatkhimPlast’s production facilities, the demand of Russian polymer producers for foreign raw materials will decrease. The creation of a new production facility became possible due to a soft loan under the Leasing Programme. At the end of 2018, the company received RUB 60 million from the Industrial Development Fund. The total project cost exceeded RUB 230 million.
In September 2020, AO Chelny-Khleb joined the Labour Productivity and Employment Support national project. It is a present-day full-cycle enterprise for the production of bakery and confectionery products, the range of which exceeds 100 items. The company’s products have been in demand for over 40 years among residents of the city and the republic. The product range is constantly expanding. At the same time, the technology base of the enterprise is being continuously updated.
As a pilot project, the company determined the flow of confectionery products on the Fritsch production line, which includes a full production cycle, starting with the process of receiving feedstock and preparing the dough and ending with the shipment of finished confectionery products to the client. The choice of the stream is not accidental. The existing potential of the equipment, the increasing demand for products and the desire to increase efficiency, allow working out all the available lean production tools using the example of the pilot stream.
The goal of the project is to increase output by 30%, reduce production inventories by 60% and cut production times by 55%. Along with the project target indicators, the action plan includes the tasks of training the project’s working group and company’s executives on the topics of “Decomposition” and “Effective Information Centre”, as well as the training of an internal lean coach for the enterprise. Today, the project is at the final stage of diagnosing the current state of the flow.

The Productivity Leaders executive training programme was created by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation jointly with the All-Russian Foreign Trade Academy under the Russian Ministry of Economic Development as part of the Labour Productivity and Employment Support national project.
During the educational process, the Programme participants work out key areas for increasing labour productivity for a particular enterprise, and develop an action plan for its implementation, which allows managers of enterprises in non-resource sectors of the economy to focus on acquiring new skills and competencies within a single information field in the context of large-scale production transformations, introduction of organisational and technology innovations that contribute to increasing labour productivity.
Due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus infection, the Programme is currently being implemented using distance learning technology that allow remote interaction of participants in the educational process while maintaining the educational process quality. An important condition for training in the Programme is the availability of free access to an Internet-connected personal computer / laptop, as well as a basic level of computer literacy.

More than 300 employees of Tatarstan enterprises have been trained under the Process Factory programme of the Labour Productivity and Employment Support national project to implement the lean production principles. The Process Factory is a training production site where participants, in a real production process, gain hands-on experience in using lean manufacturing and production optimisation tools, and understand how improvements affect operational and economic performance.
Since the opening of the training site in Kazan, which took place in August of this year, a total of 18 Process Factories have been held to train officials and employees of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan, as well as experts from 13 enterprises participating in the national project.
Training takes place at the premises of the Regional Competence Centre in a specially equipped classroom. Its main goal is to introduce the lean manufacturing principles in enterprises for the subsequent increase in productivity.
The national project is focused on achieving socially significant results: the introduction of online services into the digital ecosystem of an enterprise participating in the national project; expanding the range of services provided by the Federal Competence Centre and the Regional Competence Centre; formation of an innovator movement with the involvement of WorldSkills experts and infrastructure.
The Zainsky Sugar company, part of one of the largest holdings, Agrosila, intends to increase labour productivity by 30% in the next three years. The plant is introducing innovative technologies for the cultivation and storage of sugar beets. In late August this year, the Zainsky Sugar became a participant in the Labour Productivity and Employment Support national project.
The plant has been introducing lean manufacturing tools into its processes since 2014. An analysis of equipment failures during the sugar production season revealed the main causes for downtime and reduced productivity in sugar beet processing.
As a result, new maintenance schedules were developed for all types of equipment with a detailed description of each stage. The most important moment in the implementation of the lean manufacturing system was the development of regulations regarding the involvement of employees in continuous improvement, provisions for the opening and implementation of kaizen projects, the 5C workplace organisation system, and the standardisation of all processes. Kaizen projects are opened annually by heads of the repair services, foremen, and the management.
Lean tools are also used in the warehouses. The Kanban technology helped to optimise warehouse stocks and build a production inventory planning chain. In 2020, the company’s experts work to improve the efficiency of the AGRO production system by opening kaizen projects aimed at reducing the cost of production.
Today, the company has posted their second Tatar-language video featuring the people’s artist on its official website and Instagram page.
