Dear friends!

Each year we celebrate April 2 as the Day of Unity between the Peoples of Russia and Belarus. It was on this day that the Presidents of the two states signed the “Treaty on the Union between Belarus and Russia”, which initiated the process of mutual integration of the countries.

The main purpose of the Union was to strengthen friendly relations and ties based on the principles of good neighbourliness, taking into account mutual interests, paying special attention to trade and economic cooperation.

The successful experience of interaction within the Union also contributed to the development of trade and economic relations between Belarus and Tatarstan. The trade turnover between the republics amounted to US$ 1.19 billion in 2018. Our enterprises are successfully working on the development of integration processes – industry-specific programmes are underway and new projects are being created. The main areas of industrial cooperation are engineering, petrochemicals, and medicine.

It should also be noted that favourable conditions have been created in Tatarstan for cooperation with Belarusian enterprises.

On this day, I wish everyone a peaceful sky, optimism, and well-being!

The Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade hosted today a meeting between Duracell Russia and representatives of Kazan’s shopping centres. The event, chaired by Deputy Minister German Lerner, was dealt with establishing an infrastructure for the collection of used batteries through creating additional collection points.

Establishing a unified system for the collection, transportation, and recycling of batteries is an important step in the formation of the waste treatment, recycling, and disposal industry.

Tatarstan is a pilot region of Russia for expedited battery recycling. For this, conditions will be created to recycle up to 60% of the batteries. Further on, this expertise will be shared with other regions.

Containers for collecting batteries can be found in many stores and supermarkets of electronics, which have entered into an agreement with the company for processing lithium-based batteries. At the moment, the company cooperates with many large retail chains, installing collection containers in stores.

Thanks to the joint project of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, Duracell, and retail companies, more than 300 new battery collection points were located in retail chain outlets in 2018, which allowed significant increase in battery recycling.
