The first body of the new mid-floor trolleybus was assembled at NEFAZ, a subsidiary of KAMAZ in Bashkiria.
NEFAZ is manufacturing the new line of products in partnership with Ufa Tram and Trolleybus Plant (UTTZ). The body of the first trolleybus was delivered to UTTZ for completing with electrical equipment.
Trolleybuses produced by NEFAZ in cooperation with UTTZ will differ from models already existing in the Russian market both in consumer properties and in price. Technical features of the model are characteristic for KAMAZ products. These are the solid body frame, the time-tested chassis, and the steering system. Given the unification of this platform with the NEFAZ buses, many parts could be used interchangeably.
In late February, the first jointly produced low-entry trolleybus will go for a trial run in Ufa. The model was included in the Ufa rolling stock upgrade programme. By the end of the year, ten of these vehicles will be operated in the streets of the city.
In addition, the design of a fully low-floor trolleybus is under completion, which will be presented at the public transport exhibition in early April in Moscow.
