Within the framework of the Labour Productivity and Employment Support national project, the Tatarstan’s Regional Competence Centre (RCC), with the assistance of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan, has implemented a pilot project to increase labour productivity at one of the leading manufacturers in the perfumery and cosmetic industry in Russia, AO Aromat, established in 1942.
The production flow of perfumery products was chosen as a pilot stream. RCC experts trained and helped an in-house team of go-ahead professionals to identify temporary losses in the pilot stream and provided guidance on how to improve the production processes by reducing labour costs.
Thanks to the 5C system, things were put in order in the workshop and in documentary records. For each unit, internal standards were developed for the performance of operations, as well as instructions for adjustment and maintenance. Production analysis was also launched, flow maps for current, ideal, and desired states and spaghetti charts were built, a reference area was created, problems were identified, and an action plan was developed to eliminate them.
The project to increase labour productivity at the company has achieved its objectives in full. Its successful implementation has led to a 41% reduction in the pilot stream production time and a 30% increase in the production output.
