On May 14, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan hosted the first organising committee meeting of the republic’s contest titled “Engineer of the Year”, which was chaired by Deputy Minister Almaz Khusainov.

The meeting was attended by contest organisers, representatives of the Youth Union of Tatarstan’s Enterprises and Organisations, the Tatarstan Association of Enterprises and Industrialists, and leading Kazan universities. Participants discussed key points regarding the preparation and conduct of the contest.

The “Engineer of the Year” is carried out with an aim of raising public awareness about the engineering and blue-collar occupations and providing qualified personnel to key enterprises in the basic sectors of the regional economy.

The contest is scheduled in two stages – by correspondence, when the submitted applications will be selected and on-site stage in the form of a two-day travelling workshop. Contestants are divided into three categories – students, engineers under the age of 35, and engineers over 35 years old.

The contest is expected to be ended with an awards ceremony for its winners.

Tatarstan was visited by Minister of Industry of the Republic of Belarus Pavel Utyupin. Within the framework of his visit, Pavel Utyupin, jointly with Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan German Lerner, visited the production sites of Yelabuga Automotive Works and MTZ-Tatarstan Trading and Production Company.

From May 13 to 15, the Republic of Tatarstan is being visited by a Karelian delegation led by the Head of the Republic Artur Parfenchikov.

A number of events are scheduled during the visit, such as a meeting with Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, visits to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan, the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, the IT Park, Eidos Medicine and Eidos Robotics centres, Technopolis Himgrad, as well as the City Clinical Hospital No. 7, and the Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University.

Individual programmes have been prepared for delegation members to exchange experience in such areas as agriculture, health care, tourism, civil construction, entrepreneurship, and municipal cooperation.

On May 8, the Kazan Helicopters of the Russian Helicopters Holding (part of Rostec Corporation) held a commemorative meeting titled “Bow to Those Great Years” and the annual Immortal Regiment march.

Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, home front workers, as well as children from Privolzhsky Orphanage and students of specialised “helicopter classes” at Gymnasium No. 8 and School No. 54 of Kazan were invited to the celebrations.

The ceremonial event saw readings of patriotic poems and performances of amateur art groups. The participants to the celebrations heard stories about the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and their deeds of valour.

On the eve of the Victory Day, the company’s representatives visited veterans at home, presented gifts and monetary awards.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan German Lerner took part in a working visit of the advanced team of Tatarstan to Harbin, China. The visit took place on May 6 to 8 and was dedicated to the upcoming visit of the Tatarstan President to the PRC on June 17, 2019.

Within the framework of the working visit, the delegation inspected the forum venue at the 6th Russian-Chinese EXPO 2019 to be held on June 15 to 19 under the motto “Chinese-Russian Regional Cooperation: Opportunities, Potential, Future”.

The team also visited the Tatar mosque in Harbin. At the moment, the mosque is under repair, and its opening is scheduled to coincide with the visit of the Tatarstan President in June.

Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University has developed an advanced training programme in the area of the “Corporate Bond Market Development”. The objective of the programme is the development of the financial market in Tatarstan.

Training under this programme will be aimed at updating participants’ knowledge in such areas as bonded loans, procedures for issuing corporate bonds, exchange trading in bonds, etc.

At the end of the programme, participants will be given certificates in the established standard format.

Applications for participation in the programme are accepted until May 29, 2019 (indicating the full name, position, phone number of the intended participants).

From May 2 to 3, the Speed March, an annual tourist and adventure event dedicated to the Day of Great Victory took place in Tatarstan.

The event was held on the Miesha River in the Laishevo District, where more than 100 tourism enthusiasts from working youth came together.

As part of the Speed March, various contests and competitions are held annually: tourist adventure races, creative contests, tourist culinary contests, as well as an amateur fishing contest, which, for the third year in a row, have been supervised by the Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade jointly with the Youth Government of Tatarstan.

This year, 9 enterprises took part in the event: the Kazan Gunpowder Plant, KMPO, Tatenergo, the Nizhnekamsk Hydroelectric Station, Remdizel, Nizhnekamsk-Neftekhim, the Naberezhnye Chelny CHP, the Begishevo Airport, and the Bugulma Electric Grids.

The contest was won by a representative of the Begishevo Airport, who was awarded a diploma and gifts from the contest supervisors.

On April 30, 2019, a meeting chaired by Deputy Minister Aleksey Savelchev was held at the Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade on the issues of rendering assistance to OOO Karpov Concern in retrofitting its research laboratory and creating pilot plants.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Karpov Concern, the Tatarstan Ministry of Economy, the Innovation Technopark Idea, the Tatarstan Investment and Venture Fund, Tatneftekhiminvest-Holding, and the Kazan National Research Technological University.

During the meeting, representatives of Karpov Concern informed the participants about the potential of the laboratory at the Scientific Innovation Centre, as well as about ongoing research to develop technologies for organosilicon products. The meeting also discussed the opportunities for participation of the Karpov Concern in existing government support programmes.

Representatives of the Kazan Helicopters won a victory at the 4th Annual Corporate Professional Skills Contest of the Russian Helicopters Holding (part of Rostec Corporation). Competitions were held at the Rostvertol plant. Workers and engineers of 9 enterprises competed in 5 skills. The winners will go to the qualifying contest for the Rostec team to represent the corporation at the WorldSkills Hi-Tech national championship among young professionals of Russia’s industrial companies.

Over a week in late April, 65 participants competed in five manufacturing skills: Mechanical Engineering CAD, CNC Turning, CNC Milling, Aircraft Assembly, and Lifecycle Management. Their work was rated by 38 experts from the holding’s enterprises, including representatives of the Kazan Helicopters.

All participants of the 4th Annual Corporate Professional Skills Contest of the Russian Helicopters Holding received special certificates. Winners were awarded with honorary diplomas and cash prizes.

The mission of the corporate contest is to boost the interest of young people in engineering jobs and blue-collar occupations. The best ones will take part in the WorldSkills Hi-Tech as part of the Rostec corporate team.
