On 7 December 2016, the Tatarstan-Turkish Business Forum will be held in Kazan within the framework of the working visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey Binali Yıldırım to Tatarstan.
The Forum will be attended by Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Turkish Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov, Vice-President of the Committee for Foreign Economic Relations of Turkey Mithat Yenigün, representatives of governmental authorities and business communities of Tatarstan and Turkey.
The Forum will include presentations of economic and investment potential of Tatarstan and B2B meetings between representatives of Tatarstan and Turkey business communities.
On 7 December 2016, the exhibition centre of Kazanskaya Yarmarka will host the opening ceremony of the “Mechanical Engineering. Metalworking. Kazan” international exhibition, “TechnoWelding” specialised exhibition, and a meeting of the Coordination Council of the Tatarstan’s mechanical engineering enterprises. The event will be attended by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan Albert Karimov noted that the priority tasks of the republic’s mechanical engineering sector are improving the competitiveness of products, implementing imports substitution projects, and commercialising the innovative products.
The exhibition is accompanied by intensive business programme, during which the participants will discuss the industry’s development prospects. Among the key events are a meeting of the Coordination Council of mechanical engineering enterprises of the Republic of Tatarstan and the International Scientific Conference “Innovative Engineering Technologies, Equipment and Materials in 2016”, held by the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan in cooperation with leading industrial companies, specialised research institutions and universities.
On 6 December 2016, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov took part in the 4th International Conference “Quality as a Basis for Modern Automotive Industry”.
The head of the Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade delivered a welcome speech to the participants of the conference, representatives of Russian vehicle assembly plants, experts in the field of quality, and certification authorities. In particular, he noted that the automotive industry holds the lead in the mechanical engineering sector of the republic and largely determines its level of social and economic development.
Albert Karimov also noted the importance of creating favourable conditions for businesses and fair competition saying that the Tatarstan Government, in close collaboration with a number of federal ministries and departments, directors, and social organisations, stepped up in recent years the efforts of localising the production of automotive components in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle assembly plants and improving the competitiveness of automotive industry suppliers on a consistent basis.
Today, Tatarstan is among top five Russian regions in terms of the number of enterprises having a certified quality management system. Within the framework of the personnel training and retraining programmes in the field of quality control and technical regulations, more than 1,000 specialists are annually improving their qualifications in various aspects of management. Training is conducted by specialised institutions with a governmental support that the Tatarstan Government provides through a system of government orders and by compensating the costs for training and retraining of experts to enterprises in the republic.
On 6 December 2016, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan hosted the meeting of the Interagency Working Group on the implementation of federal legislation in the field of security and counter-terrorism safety of fuel and energy complex in the Republic of Tatarstan.
During the meeting, the representatives of fuel and energy entities and industrial enterprises spoke about the implementation of the requirements for anti-terrorist protection of fuel and energy sector facilities.
Together with the representatives of the Antiterrorist Commission in the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian National Guard in the Republic of Tatarstan, issues were discussed of conducting repeated surveys by the entities of the fuel and energy sector, executing action plans to improve their engineering safety features for protecting the enterprises up to the level required by the legislation, and the Action Plan of the Working Group for 2017.
On 6 December 2016, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov took part in the meeting of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov with representatives of the business community from the Federal Republic of Germany. During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of further development of relations in the field of engineering, opportunities for localising the production of a number of German companies in the territory of Tatarstan.
A representative of Wilo (production of pumps and pumping systems) Jens Dallendoerfer and owner of Dango Denintal (equipment for forging and stamping) Rainer Dango told the participants of the meeting about their business development plans on the basis of cooperation with Tatarstan companies. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov invited the representatives of the companies to consider options for localising their production facilities in the republic, including that in the sites with existing developed infrastructure, tax preferences, etc.
During their stay in Kazan, representatives of German business community will also attend the 16th International Specialised Exhibition “Mechanical Engineering. Metalworking. Kazan”, International Scientific and Technology Conference “Innovative Engineering Technologies, Equipment and Materials 2016” to be held in Kazan on 7-9 December 2016.

On 5 December 2016, a ceremony of launching the production of the new Ford Kuga was held at the Alabuga Special Economic Zone. The event was attended by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Alexander Morozov, Deputy Chairman of Vnesheconombank and Member of the Board Tatiana Sakharova, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov, and other officials.
Prior to the launch ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov and other guests inspected Ford manufacturing plants and facilities: body welding shop, assembly shop, studied the work of the quality control line. Later in the opening ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov said that today is a happy day of starting the production of a Ford Kuga updated version. “The automotive market has to be on the upswing, and we must be ready for this,” said the President of Tatarstan, “and we see what beautiful cars you build, what good prospects they have”.
In the eleven months of 2016, Ford Sollers exported more than 700 vehicles. To date, exports to Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Armenia are established; the company is exporting the whole range of Ford vehicles manufactured in Russia, as well as special models based on Ford Transit.

On 5 December 2016, Naberezhnye Chelny saw signing of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Implementation of Export Strategy between PAO KAMAZ and State Corporation “Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank)”. The ceremony was attended by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Vnesheconombank Chairman Sergei Gorkov, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov, KAMAZ CEO Sergey Kogogin, Naberezhnye Chelny Mayor Nail Magdeyev, and others.
The guests visited a number of key production facilities. They inspected JV Cummins Kama, the engine plant, the main assembly line, the construction site of a new cab production plant, and the KAMAZ Science and Technology Centre.

On 5 December 2016, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan hosted a meeting of the interdepartmental working group on the development of the pharmaceutical industry in the Republic of Tatarstan.
The meeting considered the results of the production activities by AO Tatkhimfarmpreparaty, AO Karpov Chemical Plant, and AO Kazan Plant of Medical Instruments, the scientific and engineering activities of VPO KNRTU, the Arbuzov Institute of Organic and Physical Chemistry, as well as proposals of GUP Medical Equipment and Pharmacy of Tatarstan for the optimisation of pharmacies’ activities.
During the meeting, the lines of activities were specified for the working group further in 2017, the key ones of which consisting in determining the development prospects of pharmaceutical and medical industries of the Republic of Tatarstan, preparing proposals for improving the legislative regulations of the pharmaceutical industry, implementing development projects at core enterprises and research centres, and participating in the projects of HealthNet, a part of the National Technology Initiative.
On 3 December 2016, Kazan saw the opening of the new GorkiPark shopping centre. The opening ceremony of the shopping centre and Lenta hypermarket was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Kazan Executive Committee.
The floor space of the GorkiPark shopping centre is 38,000 square metres; the number of stores is 80. The anchor tenants of the shopping centre are Lenta hypermarket, Hoff furniture and home goods hypermarket, M. Video hypermarket of household appliances and electronics, Children's Paradise baby-goods store, Treasure Island children’s game centre, Uyuterra home goods store, Kari shoe store, 4 food court concepts, and a restaurant.
On 3 December 2016, the Republic’s Professional Skills Contest was held in the sewer speciality among enterprises of the Tatarstan’s garment industry. The contest was conducted with the support of the Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Republic’s Federation of Textile and Light Industry Workers’ Trade Unions, the KNRTU Institute of Light Industry Technology, Fashion and Design, and the Kazan College of Technology and Design.
The main purpose of the contest is the popularisation of blue-collar occupations. During the contest, participants demonstrated knowledge of theory and practical skills. The winners were awarded with certificates, valuable gifts and monetary prizes.
