On 6 December 2016, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov took part in the 4th International Conference “Quality as a Basis for Modern Automotive Industry”.
The head of the Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade delivered a welcome speech to the participants of the conference, representatives of Russian vehicle assembly plants, experts in the field of quality, and certification authorities. In particular, he noted that the automotive industry holds the lead in the mechanical engineering sector of the republic and largely determines its level of social and economic development.
Albert Karimov also noted the importance of creating favourable conditions for businesses and fair competition saying that the Tatarstan Government, in close collaboration with a number of federal ministries and departments, directors, and social organisations, stepped up in recent years the efforts of localising the production of automotive components in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle assembly plants and improving the competitiveness of automotive industry suppliers on a consistent basis.
Today, Tatarstan is among top five Russian regions in terms of the number of enterprises having a certified quality management system. Within the framework of the personnel training and retraining programmes in the field of quality control and technical regulations, more than 1,000 specialists are annually improving their qualifications in various aspects of management. Training is conducted by specialised institutions with a governmental support that the Tatarstan Government provides through a system of government orders and by compensating the costs for training and retraining of experts to enterprises in the republic.
