On 12 May 2016, Vienna hosted the Tatarstan-Austrian Business Forum within the visit of Tatarstan delegation headed by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov to the Republic of Austria.
The forum was attended by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Christoph Leitl, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov, Commercial Counsellor of the Austrian Embassy in the Russian Federation Dr. Dietmar Fellner, officials of government authorities, and representatives of Tatarstan and Austrian business communities.
In his welcome speech Christoph Leitl stated that they have an interest in investing in Tatarstan special economic zones. “We know that Tatarstan is an economically successful Russia’s region and we are prepared to sign a special agreement on cooperation,” he noted.
In turn, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov stated that Tatarstan is interested in attracting Austrian businesses to the republic and will render any assistance and support.
During the forum, participants made presentations about Tatarstan and Austrian economic and investment potential and discussed promising areas for trade and economic cooperation between Tatarstan and Austria. B2B meetings between representatives of Tatarstan and Austrian business communities were held as well.
On 12 May 2016, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov participated in the meeting between Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Christoph Leitl. The meeting was held in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
Parties discussed issues of further mutually beneficial cooperation and implementing joint projects. According to Christoph Leitl, Tatarstan and Austria have a lot of common interests, including business, personnel training, and education.
On 12 May 2016, the delegation from Tatarstan headed by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov is having a working trip to Austria.
After Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov has arrived to Austria, he laid a wreath at the monument to Soviet Soldiers in the centre of Vienna.
Within the working visit, it is scheduled to hold meetings between Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, and leaders of the country.
Tatarstan delegation will participate in the Tatarstan-Austrian Business Forum and will have a meeting with members of Tatar community.
On 12 May 2016, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov chaired the meeting of the organising committee on preparation to and holding the meeting of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group.
It is scheduled to hold the next meeting of the Group from 25 to 28 May in Kazan. Ildar Khalikov reminded that the capital of Tatarstan will host this event for the second time. The first was held in August 2006.
“It is expected that this year representatives of 30 Muslim states and 19 experts of Russia will arrive to Kazan,” said Ildar Khalikov. The main mission of events is to form true-to-life opinion at foreign members of the Group about Russia, its multicultural society, show the guests the experience of Tatarstan in development of interreligious and intercultural relations”.
The important part of the programme, according to Tatarstan Prime Minister, will become the visit by members of the Group to Bolgar ancient city and presentation of Bolgar Islamic Academy educational project to the guests.

On 10 May 2016, Prague hosted the meeting between Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman. Parties discussed issues of further mutually beneficial cooperation and implementing a number of joint projects.
During the meeting, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov noted that the current political and economic situation influences on bilateral ties and trade and economic relations. First of all, according to him, it is important to maintain interaction in economy, increase foreign trade turnover, and strengthen relations in culture, science, education, and tourism.
During the meeting, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov emphasised the importance of cooperation on the regional level between Tatarstan (Russia) and the South Moravian Region (Czech Republic).
Rustam Minnikhanov has invited President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman to pay a visit to Tatarstan within his regular visit to Russia.
On 9 May 2016, the Immortal Regiment march was held in the centre of Kazan comprising 45,000 people, who carried photos of their relatives that fought in the Great Patriotic War. The sizeable procession was led by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.
The Tatarstan President held a photo of Galimzyan Minnikhanov, his uncle from the father’s side. Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev holding the photo of his father Sharip Shaimiev and Chairman of the Tatarstan State Council Farid Mukhametshin holding the photo of his father Khairulla Mukhametshin have joined the campaign as well.
Earlier during the interview, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that the Immortal Regiment procession is important for keeping the memory of the heroic deeds of our people.
On 9 May 2016, Nizhnekamsk hosted a celebration of the Victory Day. According to preliminary data, 27,000 citizens spent the morning of 9 May on the square by the Eternal Flame, where an official parade of 34 platoons took place.
In total, about 1,300 people participated in the parade.
Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov congratulated the citizens of Nizhnekamsk on behalf of the Tatarstan President.
On 8 May 2016, Zelenodolsk Shipyard hosted an official keel-laying ceremony of the forth Project 22160 patrol ship, Sergey Kotov. A new generation ship was designed by OAO Severnoye Design Bureau.
The official keel-laying ceremony of a new vessel for the Russian Navy was attended by Commander-in-Chief Admiral Vladimir Korolyov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, top officials of the Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade, and top executives of OAO Ak Bars Holding Company, OAO Zelenodolsk Shipyard, and OAO Severnoye Design Bureau.
After the ceremony, Tatarstan President has bestowed State awards to employees of the plant.
Then honoured guests installed a builder's plate with the serial number 164 to the hull of the ship having fixed it with special screws.
On 7 May 2016, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Technology Centre of TGT Oilfield Services. He was accompanied by Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Assistant to the Tatarstan President Rinat Sabirov, President of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences Makzyum Salakhov, Head of Almetyevsk District Ayrat Khairullin, Director General of OAO Tatneftekhiminvest-holding Rafinat Yarullin, etc.
International TGT Oilfield Services renders services in geophysical studies, hydrocarbon deposit survey, and geological and hydrodynamic modelling. The partners of the company include BP, Petronas, Total, PAO Lukoil, OAO Novatek, OAO NK Rosneft, etc. The Technology Centre was opened in Kazan in 2015.
