On the initiative of the World Health Organisation Regional Office for Europe, the European Immunization Week will be held from April 26 to May 2, including the Russian Federation and Tatarstan
The main objective of the European Immunization Week is to raise awareness about the importance of immunisation in preventing infectious diseases.
The World Health Organisation highlights the denial of immunisation as one of the global threats to human health, along with war, pollution, climate change, diabetes, and cancer. Immunisation prevents 2 to 3 million deaths annually from diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and measles.
According to WHO, routine immunisation coverage should be at least 95% to ensure epidemic well-being.
Failure to vaccinate poses a health risk not only to individuals, but also to their close environment. It is particularly dangerous for people with reduced immunity (young children, the elderly, people with chronic illnesses, pregnant women) to refuse vaccination, as they are most vulnerable to bacteria and viruses.
Vaccination is currently the most effective way to protect your health.
