Dropping off two tonnes of used batteries or using a grandmother’s “string bag” instead of PE bags, as well as many other steps that can be taken to speed up the process of transition to the principles of circular economy, were spoken about at a thematic educational seminar at the Kazan State Power Engineering University.
The event was attended by representatives of educational organisations and businesses of Tatarstan. The speakers were university professors, top managers of major retail chains, and experts from relevant ministries and agencies.
It was carried out as part of a series of informational and educational events, the schedule for which was approved by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov.
Opening the seminar, Emil Shamsutdinov, Director of Department for Development and External Relations of KSPEU, said that the Tatarstan-Finnish Centre for Circular Economy is being created on the basis of KSPEU under a Resolution by the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers. He added that the Centre for Energy Saving Competences and Technologies created at KSPEU 6 years ago has become, in fact, the first step on the way to creating a Centre for Circular Economy, because energy efficiency is an integral part of such an economy.
The event was attended by 59 representatives from 14 educational institutions of Kazan, 37 vocational education institutions of Tatarstan, and Innokam Association.
