On gas engine fuel market development

6 December 2019, Friday

The 17th International Forum Gas of Russia’2019 was held in Moscow. The forum was organised by the Russian Gas Society (Union of Oil & Gas Producers).

The main topics for discussion were prospects of gas industry development, deregulation of natural gas prices, reform in government regulations for gas industry, and other issues. The participants include representatives of Russian regions, federal ministries, and State corporations in the gas industry.

At the forum, Minister Karimov made a report on the expertise and prospects of the gas engine fuel market development in the republic.

By the end of 2018, natural gas consumption amounted to more than 18 billion cubic metres. The level of gas infrastructure development in Tatarstan in early 2019 reached 99.51%. According to the Russian Ministry of Energy, Tatarstan was a leader (at January 1, 2019) in the development of gas fuel infrastructure and the consumption of compressed natural gas: the republic currently operates 20 CNG filling stations and 1 mobile gas filling station in the Mendeleyevsk Municipal District.

Significant potential for the consumption of liquefied natural gas in Tatarstan may be added by the purchase and conversion of cargo-carrying, special-purpose, road-building, and agricultural machinery to run on LNG.
