13 November 2019, Wednesday

Today, within the programme of the Fashion and Style. Kazan - Autumn specialised exhibition of light and textile industry goods, a round table discussion was held on the topic “Mandatory Marking of Light Industry Goods. Problems. Ways of Solving”.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan, footwear manufacturers, and light industry enterprises. The meeting was moderated by Vitaly Losyugin, representative of the Chestny Znak national goods marking system.

At present, the compulsory digital marking of footwear has been introduced in the Russian Federation, which provides for the registration of participants in the footwear market and the prohibition of unmarked footwear circulation starting from March 1, 2020. What is more, mandatory marking applies to both domestic and imported goods. Mandatory marking starts on December 1, 2019, while on June 27, 2019, an experiment on marking light industry goods was launched.

The goods marking system is aimed at fighting counterfeits and the spreading of low-quality products. As an experiment, marked now are drugs, shoes, and tobacco. The Government adopted a programme until 2020 aimed at introducing mandatory marking for 12 items, and by 2024 it is expected to cover almost all consumer goods.
