Creation of Interregional Composite Cluster launched

5 July 2017, Wednesday

On July 5, the SEZ Alabuga hosted a strategic session for establishing an interregional composite industrial cluster in the Moscow Oblast, the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Saratov Oblast. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, executive authorities of Tatarstan, Moscow and Saratov regions, industrial manufacturers of composite raw materials and semi-finished products.

The cluster is designed to promote the development of a complete technological chain of composite materials in Russia, which will include the production of polyacrylonitrile fibre (a raw material for the production of carbon fibre), high-tech carbon fibre conforming to the relevant international standards, semi-finished products based on carbon fibre, and composite products for end users.

Interest in cooperation within the composite cluster has already been expressed by more than 50 companies, which are involved in all process steps of composite production. During the strategic session, the goals and objectives of cluster development were determined; the participants discussed promising joint projects and approved a roadmap for cluster establishment. It is expected that the cluster will be created and included in the register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation by the end of this year.
