According to statistics, every seventh Russian professes Islam today and the market of halal products increases every year. The Committee for Halal Standards of the Religious Board of Muslims states that this market is estimated at several billion roubles. This entails an upsurge in interest in these products both in Russia and globally.
On April 10 to 11, the 6th International Halal Conference & Exhibition 2017 was held in Lahore (Pakistan), which was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan.
The main goal of the Conference was to demonstrate the potential of livestock husbandry and related industries to the international community. Apart from Russia, the event was visited by experts from many countries, such as Kazakhstan, China, Malaysia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and others.
The Forum comprised sessions and panel discussions where Tatarstan Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Valeyev presented his report “Regulating and Harmonising Halal Requirements in Russia and in the Republic of Tatarstan”. In addition, meetings were held in the Punjab Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and in the Investment and Trade Agency.
