On 12 May 2016, during the working lunch at the Austrian-Russian Friendship Society, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov stated that in spite of the existing politic and economic situation and sanctions, Tatarstan and Austria managed to keep good relations and business contacts, and continue to search for new ways for expanding their cooperation.

The working lunch was attended by General Secretary of the Austrian-Russian Friendship Society Florian Stermann, President of the Austrian-Russian Friendship Society and Vice-President of the Austrian Economic Chamber Richard Schenz, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov, members of the Tatarstan delegation, and representatives of the Austrian business community.

Welcoming the participants of the working lunch, Florian Stermann noted that the close cooperation between Tatarstan and Austria led to joint projects and close contacts. “Our mission is to assist in strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and Austria,” he noted. He hopes that the working lunch will give an impetus to creation of the “road map” for further joint steps.
