Mercury Club meeting in Moscow discussed issues of cooperation between defence and civil industries in Russia

On 7 October 2013, the World Trade Centre in Moscow hosted a Mercury Club meeting devoted to the “Problems of Interaction between Military Industry Complex and Russian Civil Industries”. The meeting was attended by Mercury Club President and Chairman of the Board Yevgeny Primakov, First Deputy Chairman of Military Industry Commission under the Russian Government Ivan Kharchenko, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexey Rakhmanov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Ravil Zaripov, deputies of the Russian State Duma, representatives of business associations and leaders of the chambers of commerce in Russian regions, scientists, heads of leading defence companies, experts, and Mercury Club members. Participants of the Mercury Club meeting discussed the following issues: problems of interaction between defence and civil industries; organisation and mechanisms of implementing scientific and technological innovations between defence and civil sectors; problems of scientific research and production base; innovation processes as a crucial element of its modernisation; efficiency of technopolises and industrial parks in the design and development of defence programmes; importance of international expertise in the development and implementation of advanced technologies into the dual-use industrial production; and issues of training and skills honing of workers, engineers and technicians in the defence industry.
