Mandatory marking of packaged water

20 September 2021, Monday

On 31 May 2021, the Russian Government adopted Decree No. 841, which sets out the rules and deadlines for the introduction of packaged water marking.

According to the Decree, from 1 September 2021, producers, importers, wholesalers, and retailers of packaged water must register in the state information system for monitoring the turnover of goods through the Chestny Znak website. From 1 December, mineral water produced in or imported into Russia must be marked. From March 1, 2022, the same requirements will apply to other packaged drinking water.

In order to ensure that enterprises in Tatarstan are ready for the introduction of packaged water marking, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan held a meeting on 15 September with representatives of businesses producing packaged water, the Ministry of Agriculture and Foods of Tatarstan, and OOO Operator-CRPT, the single operator of goods marking system.

Within the framework of the meeting, all stages of introducing marking were described in detail to the enterprises; the issue of preparedness of the region’s producers for marking was also discussed in an open dialogue.

It should be noted that, as of today, 185 participants of packaged water turnover have already been registered in the State Information System for Monitoring of Goods Circulation in Tatarstan, including 20 producers and 3 importers.
