On Thursday 29 July, a trade and economic mission of Kazakhstani producers took place as part of the 12th International Economic Summit Russia - Islamic World (KazanSummit 2021).
The official part of the event was attended by Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan German Lerner, Chairman of the Tatarstan CCI Shamil Ageyev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Damu Business Development Fund Farhat Sarsekeyev, and Deputy Trade Representative of Kazakhstan in Russia Nurzhan Sadykov.
During the meeting, presentations of Kazakhstani enterprises were held. Tatarstan businessmen had an opportunity to see with their own eyes the products of potential partners and ask questions. Entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan presented the production capacity of their companies and discussed the needs of the Tatarstan market.
As German Lerner pointed out, the development of cooperation with the Republic of Kazakhstan is an important area of Tatarstan’s foreign economic activities. Over the last 5 years the Republic of Kazakhstan has been among the top 7 partners of Tatarstan in terms of foreign trade volumes.
Despite the coronavirus pandemic and the introduction of restrictive measures in 2020, the trade turnover indicator between Kazakhstan and Tatarstan increased by 14% compared to the figure for 2019 and amounted to US$ 630 million.
