Tatarstan is capable of building up oil production and refining by using new technologies. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov made the statement at the Tatarstan’s oil summit in Almetyevsk today.
Rustam Minnikhanov said that thanks to the technologies, Tatarstan managed not only to maintain oil production, but also to increase it, together with small oil companies, to 30 million tonnes per year.
In recent years, production had to be temporarily reduced due to OPEC+ decisions.
He reminded that there used to be only one primary oil processing facility designed for 7 million tonnes (now the TAIF-NK refinery). In recent years, the TANECO Complex has built additional oil refining facilities rated at 15-16 million tonnes.
“Practically in the near future, we may not have any oil for sale at all, we will refine it completely,” suggested the Tatarstan President.
According to him, the oil sector is of great importance both for providing revenues to the budget and for creating jobs. “Each small oil company is bigger in essence than even a large factory. That is why we have a special attitude to crude oil, petrochemicals, oil refining,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.
