Production of Aurus Senat launched in Tatarstan

31 May 2021, Monday

Today, a launch ceremony of Aurus Senat serial production was held in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone (Yelabuga Municipal District of Tatarstan).

The event was attended by Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, Director General of Rostec Corporation Sergey Chemezov and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov. Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the ceremony via videoconference.

In his welcoming address, Vladimir Putin reminded that, for the first time in Russia’s history, an entire line of executive-class cars has been created from scratch. In addition, they have a recognisable traditional design.

The Russian President stressed that the car development process had been carried out in close collaboration with experts and engineering hubs in Europe and Asia. Everything was done quickly, our partners were surprised many times by this and were delighted along with us, Vladimir Putin said. The Russian President especially emphasised that about 70% of component suppliers are Russian companies.

Russian Minister Denis Manturov also reminded that a full-cycle production of Senate vehicle is launched today, from body-welding operations to final testing.

For his part, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov expressed his gratitude for entrusting the republic with the mass-production of the Aurus vehicle. The project would not have been possible without the support from the Government, he said.
