Tatarstan and Kyrgyzstan have a great potential for the development of trade relations. In 2020, the mutual trade turnover exceeded $41 million. Today, there is every possibility of increasing these volumes. This was stated today by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov at his meeting with Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulukbek Maripov. The meeting took place at the Kazan Kremlin.
The Tatarstan President stressed that the current volume of trade turnover does not meet current opportunities. He suggested stepping up interaction in trade and economic areas. Among the priority areas for joint work President Minnikhanov named oil refining and petrochemicals, mechanical engineering, helicopter building, vehicle construction and production of vehicle components, IT, medicine and pharmaceutics, science and education.
A special place in relations between Tatarstan and Kyrgyzstan is occupied by similar culture and traditions, close languages, and a common religion. Rustam Minnikhanov pointed out that next year Tatarstan would mark widely the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgars. The President invited representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic to attend the event. Rustam Minnikhanov also suggested more active development of tourism ties, in particular, the resumption of direct flights between Kazan and Bishkek.
In response, Ulukbek Maripov noted the great potential in trade and economic relations between Tatarstan and Kyrgyzstan.
