The Kazan Helicopters of the Russian Helicopters Holding (part of the Rostec Corporation) has received approval from Rosaviatsiya to install an on-board boom on the Ansat helicopter. The new option significantly expands the rotorcraft’s functionality, allowing it to safely lift people and cargo weighing up to 272 kg onto and down from the helicopter.
The airborne boom increases the efficiency of the Ansat helicopter application during search and rescue operations and allows for loading and unloading operations in hover mode.
The airborne boom can easily be assembled and disassembled using quick-release couplings. The boom retains access to the under-hood for servicing the machine.
In addition, Kazan Helicopters has completed tests of the cargo cockpit mooring system, which will allow operators to perform cargo transportation on-board the Ansat helicopter. Note that the Ansat fuselage has the most spacious cargo cabin among helicopters with a take-off weight of up to 4 tonnes.
Ansat is a light twin-engine multirole helicopter, serial production of which has been established at the Kazan Helicopters. According to the helicopter’s certificate, its design allows to convert it into a cargo version or into a passenger rotorcraft that can lift up to seven people. Ansat is certified for the operation at outdoor temperatures ranging from -45°С to +50°С.
