Zelenodolsk hosted keel-laying ceremony for two Meteor 2020 hydrofoils

2 March 2021, Tuesday

Today, the Gorky Zelenodolsk Shipyard Plant saw a keel-laying ceremony for two Meteor 2020 high-speed hydrofoil passenger ships of project 03830 for the needs of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District within the framework of the regional passenger fleet renovation programme.

The contract for the construction of two Meteor 2020 vessels was signed on January 26, 2021, by Zelenodolsk Shipyard, Severrechflot, and Mashpromleasing. High-speed hydrofoils of project 03830 developed by the Nizhny Novgorod Sea Tech Design Bureau have a number of advantages over the existing hydrofoils and meet all international requirements for comfort and safety.

Design of the 03830 project vessel has already received a prestigious award at the EPDA, a European industrial product design contest. As pointed out in EPDA publications, the ship design and wing system solve several problems: ensuring safety and comfort for passengers and crew, reducing coastal erosion, increasing speed while reducing fuel consumption, and reducing the proportion of human labour in the manufacture of the vessel.

During the event, awards were given to the shipyard’s employees who contributed significantly to the construction and delivery of ships for the Russian Navy.

At the end of the official part, the distinguished guests were granted the honorary right to install builder’s plates to the hulls of the new vessels.
