12 April is the International Day of Human Space Flight. Since 12 April 1962, Russia has been celebrating the Cosmonautics Day commemorating the first space flight by Yuri Gagarin. On 12 April 1962, the Soviet pilot Yuri Gagarin aboard Vostok spaceship launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome became the first man in the world to make an orbital flight of the Earth. His flight in the near-Earth environment was completed in 108 minutes.
