Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov arrived in Tatarstan today on a working visit. Accompanied by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Prime Minister Borisov visited the Alabuga-Volokno carbon fibre production plant in SEZ Alabuga and held a meeting on composite materials import substitution in the civil aircraft industry and other industries.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of import substitution of composite materials for civil aviation industry and other industrial sectors.
At present, Alabuga-Volokno produces carbon fibres (CF) in different nominal values from 3K (3000 elementary fibres in a bundle) to 50K with the strength of up to 4.9 GPa and elastic modulus of up to 260 GPa. The traditional areas of composite materials application are aircraft engineering, shipbuilding, energy and machine building. However, composites also have a place in promising industries.
The meeting was attended by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Oleg Bocharov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Russian Military Industrial Commission Andrey Elchaninov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov, Director General of SEZ Alabuga Timur Shagivaleyev, and others.
