On October 24, 2020, a significant event took place at the Kukmor Felt-Making Factory for company’s current and retired employees and Kukmor residents: a ceremony dedicated to the opening of a plaque in memory of outstanding people whose fates are woven into the history of felt-making industry, the leaders who managed the enterprise at different times since 1867, and the opening of a memorial bust to Shamil Akhmetshin, former Director General of the factory.

Mr. Akhmetshin, who succeeded in preserving the unique production facilities and company’s team, in reconstructing and upgrading the traditional production of felt and products made from it that are practically unparalleled in quality in Russia, made a significant contribution to developing the sector and improving the unique production. Today, the Kukmor Felt-Making Factory is the Russia’s leading manufacturer of felts, felt footwear, products made of natural wool, widely known both in Russia and abroad. The factory is in continuous development: while keeping traditions, it improves the production technology; while introducing fashion trends, it expands the range of products.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan expresses its gratitude to everyone who made the ceremony possible and special thanks to the sculptor, member of the Russian Union of Artists Artur Davydov for the commemorative works performed.
