The Kazan Helicopters of the Russian Helicopters holding (part of the Rostec Corporation) summed up the work on the pilot stream entitled “Manufacturing Composite Blades for Mi-38 / Mi-171A2 Helicopters”, within the framework of the Labour Productivity and Employment Support national project held jointly with the Federal Competence Centre (FCC).
Within the framework of this national project, two employees of the enterprise were trained in several lean manufacturing competencies and became certified internal coaches. They will help launch the next projects and train factory workers to use the right tools to streamline workflows and reduce costs. Employees who were included in the pilot project working group and became leaders of change were awarded diplomas for their active participation in the labour productivity improvement programme.
Testing of lean manufacturing tools at the company began in 2010-2011. After that, for implementing a large-scale plant reconstruction programme, a priority was determined in developing the production system: reengineering (reconstruction) of production facilities with shaping value streams in accordance with lean production principles and the creation of a continuous improvement system.
Participation in the Labour Productivity and Employment Support national project will allow Kazan Helicopters to achieve new results. At the same time, the company’s objective within the project is not only to achieve the required production indicators, but also to improve the qualifications and involvement of personnel.
