Meeting with Adviser to Uzbekistan PM held in Tatarstan Government House

25 September 2020, Friday

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mehriddin Khairiddinov. The meeting was also attended by representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in Kazan Radik Vakhitov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov, Acting Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Protection of Tatarstan Elmira Zaripova, and others.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked his Uzbekistani colleagues for their attention and support in the development of cooperation aimed at strengthening relations between Russia and Uzbekistan. The Tatarstan President recalled that active work is underway with leading Tatarstan’s companies: KAMAZ is expanding truck supplies to Uzbekistan, Tatneft also operates in the Uzbekistan market with its multi-fuel filling stations, and cooperation has been established with the first rubber plant in Uzbekistan.

The issues of the labour market and labour migration were discussed as well. Uzbekistan ranks first in terms of the number of its citizens arriving in Tatarstan. In 2017, the Russian Government and the Government of Uzbekistan signed an Agreement on the organised recruitment and attraction of Uzbekistani citizens to carry out temporary labour activities in the Russian Federation. Tatarstan was chosen as the territory for testing the pilot project to develop the mechanism of organised labour migrant recruitment, and the Ministry of Labour, Employment, and Social Protection of Tatarstan is defined as the responsible authority.
