Tatarstan develops cooperation with Thuringia

On 11 October 2012, Kazan hosted the Economic Forum “Thuringia in Tatarstan” attended by Minister of Economy, Labour, and Technology of the Federal State of Thuringia (Germany) Mr. Matthias Machnig and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Zaripov. The Forum brought together top officials from the Ministries and Departments of Tatarstan and Thuringia and representatives of the Tatarstan enterprises and 45 Germany-based companies.
Within the opening ceremony of the Economic Forum “Thuringia in Tatarstan”, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Zaripov made a presentation of the republic’s social, economic, and investment potential and determined the promising trends of bilateral cooperation.
Minister of Economy, Labour, and Technology of the Federal State of Thuringia (Germany) Mr. Matthias Machnig described the innovation potential of the Federal State of Thuringia.
The successful cooperation with the Tatarstan partners was exemplified by the speech of the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of FUSO KamAZ Trucks Rus Mr. Thomas Unger.
The Forum included the signing of an Agreement between Tupolev Kazan National Research Technical University KAI and Ilmenau University of Technology. The Agreement provides for the cooperation in scientific spheres of mutual interest, exchange of scientific and teaching personnel and students, information exchange, etc.
The Programme of the Business Forum also comprised a presentation of SEZ Alabuga and networking opportunities for representatives of the Tatarstan and Thuringia business communities.
During the Forum, especial attention was paid to the issues of investment attraction, cooperation in the spheres of mechanical engineering, agriculture, health care, education, advanced information technologies, and innovations.
