Labour Productivity project: Tatarstan companies can become Russia’s economy drivers

2 August 2019, Friday

Enterprises from Tatarstan have every opportunity to become the locomotives of the Russian economy’s growth. This opinion was expressed by Director General of the Federal Competence Centre for Labour Productivity Nikolay Solomon.

“Since 2011, we have been implementing a programme to increase labour productivity in the republic,” said Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov at a workshop for implementing the national project in the republic. “This area is the main resource for achieving the objective that is indicated in the Strategy 2030. Tatarstan should become a globally competitive region. It is high labour productivity that is the main indicator for the competitiveness of our economy. Today, this task has been brought to the national priority level by decree of the President of Russia.”

The republic joined the national project in 2017. It is planned that over the next five years, lean manufacturing tools will be mastered by 351 companies.

The productivity.rf site has already received 70 applications. Participation in the project is open for organisations from 5 non-resource sectors, such as manufacturing, agriculture, construction, transportation and storage, as well as utilities. Various government support measures would help them to reach a qualitatively new level, while an increase in labour productivity would improve the welfare of the inhabitants in Tatarstan.
