The development of the NGV fuel market in the republic was discussed today on the Tatarstan TV channel in an interview with Deputy Minister Aleksey Savelchev who is in charge of overseeing this area.
Under the Development of the NGV Fuel Market in Tatarstan Programme for 2013-2023, a total of 2,800 motor vehicles were converted into gas engine fuel. During the programme implementation period, some 2,300 methane-powered vehicles were purchased, and more than 5,000 vehicles were operated. In this area, Tatarstan boasts leading indicators compared to other regions.
It is worth noting that within the framework of the programme, projects for the conversion of vehicles to run on compressed natural gas are being supported through granting partial subsidies for expenses borne by conversion and maintenance centres. The subsidy amount is up to 30% of the nominal conversion costs. Drivers additionally receive a card for 1,500 cubic metres of gas (methane) from Gazprom Gas Motor Fuel.
In addition, some 800 methane-powered buses were purchased in Tatarstan. The leaders in the number of natural gas-powered public transport are Naberezhnye Chelny, Nizhnekamsk, Kazan, and Almetyevsk.
