Wrap-up session of State Illicit Trafficking Control Committee

13 December 2018, Thursday

The tobacco product labelling experiment will be extended, and the introduction of mandatory labelling will be phased. This was announced by Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov during a meeting of the State Committee to Combat Illicit Trafficking in Industrial Products.

By 2020, the Russian product traceability system should include tobacco products, shoe products, a number of light industry products, perfumes, toilet water, tyres, as well as photographic cameras and flashes.

One of the important topics at the meeting was the licensing of aluminium wheel imports, effective from July 1, 2018. Against the background of the growing Russia’s output of aluminium wheels, it is necessary to protect the domestic market against unfair imports from China, which hinders the further development of both wheel manufacturers and related sectors.

In addition, Minister Manturov specified the timeframe for starting the experiment of labelling finished dairy products in Russia. “We expect that in the near future the Government will take the appropriate decision, and this will continue until the end of next year in a pilot mode”, said the Russian Minister of Industry and Trade.
