Today, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan hosted a meeting of the working group for organising and coordinating the work of the republic’s gas motor fuel market development and the conversion of vehicles and agricultural machinery to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG). All parties to the gas fuel market development process gathered at the negotiations table: equipment manufacturers, representatives of KAMAZ and RariTEK; representatives of gas filling station chains; executives of Topgas responsible for the construction of an LNG plant in the Tyulyachinsky District; representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The meeting was held by Minister Karimov.
“Since the beginning of the Programme (launched in 2013) in Tatarstan, about 4,400 vehicles have been converted to compressed natural gas (CNG) or purchased as gas-powered”, the Minister said.
The working group participants discussed plans for LNG equipment development and production in 2019 to 2025.
At the end of the discussion, the working group came to the general opinion that it is important to understand the economic risks of all the components of the gas fuel market development process so that to create a system efficient enough for investors and easily accessible for consumers from Tatarstan.
