Summing up REN 2018 results

The key topic of the Russian Energy Week International Forum this year (October 3–6, 2018) was “Sustainable Energy for a Changing World”. The plenary session was opened by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The forum was held with the support from the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the Government of Moscow and the Roscongress Foundation. The forum’s business programme comprises two main blocks:

The first one, Global Energy Agenda, touched upon aspects of energy development in a changing world, from the problem of accessing clean fuels in Asia-Pacific and African countries to energy development and use of new technologies in the Arctic.

The second one is Development Plans for Russian Fuel and Energy Sector. The track agenda highlighted the achievements and problems of the coal, oil, gas, petrochemical, electric power industries in the contemporary domestic fuel and energy sector – in particular, within the industry-wide events.

The main programme of the forum consisted of 67 events in various formats, such as plenary sessions, panels, round table discussions, lectures, meetings of industry experts, etc. A total of 471 speakers took part in the forum’s business programme.
