29 August 2018, Wednesday

The project for the construction of a 230 MW CCGT unit at the Kazan CHPP-1 is part of the Tatenergo’s Assets of the Republic investment programme. The facility is inscribed on the list of generating facilities to be used to supply capacity under capacity agreements. It has been commissioned 4 months prior to the deadline set forth by the Resolution of the Russian Government.

The power plant launch command was given personally by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Novak.

The 230 MW CCGT unit at the Kazan CHPP-1 is the first investment project in the electric power industry included in the Federal Programme for Support of Investment Projects Implemented on the Territory of the Russian Federation Based on Project Finance, which provides for the state guarantees and preferential loans for projects that have a high social and economic importance for the country.

The implementation of the investment project to increase generating capacity at the Kazan CHPP-1 makes it possible to enhance the energy security of Kazan and to close the energy shortage gap in the capital's hub. The efficiency of the new power plant is 52% (compared to 33% of the old generation). In addition, this will result in lower emissions into the atmosphere.
