Meeting on liquefied natural gas prospects in Tatarstan

In the afternoon of July 20, the Minister took part in a meeting on the prospects of using liquefied natural gas in Tatarstan as a motor fuel, as well as on a pilot vehicle conversion project in the Mendeleyevsk Municipal District. The event was attended by representatives of the Tatarstan Presidential Office, the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers, representatives of the Mendeleyevsk District Administration, and executives of RariTEK and KAMAZ.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the prospects of using liquefied natural gas in Tatarstan as a motor fuel, the purposes for expanding its use, as well as the implementation of a pilot project for the conversion of vehicles in the Mendeleyevsk Municipal District.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister noted that Tatarstan is extremely interested in the implementation of the proposed project. Therefore, a more detailed study of a number of issues is required. Also, it is necessary to compile, jointly with relevant ministries and municipal districts of Tatarstan, a list of LNG-powered vehicles planned for purchase, to determine the technical and operational performance of LNG-powered vehicles based on the test results, as well as the economic effect obtained from operation of this equipment by enterprises and the republic in general.
