Within the Sochi 2018 Investment Forum, an agreement was signed to create an inter-regional industrial cluster titled “Composites without Borders” between the Republic of Tatarstan, the Moscow Region, the Saratov Region, and the UMATEX Group (Rosatom Corporation), aimed at developing the domestic composites market and shaping a complete production chain for composite materials.

The document was signed by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyev, Saratov Region Governor Valery Radaev, and First Deputy Director General of Rosatom Corporation Kirill Komarov.

The main objective of the cluster is to ensure the composite industry growth by creating a complete polymer composite production chain in the Russian Federation, including raw materials, chemical fibres, semi-processed goods based on them, and final consumer products. Participation in the cluster was announced by over 20 Russian enterprises, including 11 enterprises in Tatarstan (Alabuga-Volokno, RMZ RariTEK, RariTEK Engineering, Zaryad, Tatneft-Presscomposite, P-D Tatneft-Alabuga Fiberglass, Glass-Reinforced Plastic Pipe Plant, SMP-Mechanika, REKON, KAMATEK, and Simonov Design Bureau), 5 higher educational institutions in three Russian regions, and 2 technology infrastructure facilities (SEZ Alabuga and Technopolis Himgrad).
