Ford Sollers localised engines in Yelabuga up to 78%

20 July 2017, Thursday

The Ford Sollers company has brought the localisation level of the 1.6-litre Ford Duratec engine manufactured in Yelabuga up to 78%. The high level of engine localisation at the Yelabuga plant became possible due to attaining full operational capacity. To date, more than 30,000 powertrains have been produced, a significant part of which is made in Russia from Russian raw materials.

The increase in the localisation level of the power unit popular with Russian buyers makes it possible to increase the economic efficiency of production and to reduce the effect of exchange rates fluctuations on the production costs.

In Russia, a time-tested gasoline atmospheric 4-cylinder engine of the Duratec series with a capacity of 1.6 litres is produced. The Duratec engines with 85 to 125 hp are used to equip Ford Fiesta sedans and hatchbacks, EcoSport subcompact crossovers, and the best-selling Ford model in Russia, Ford Focus.

The Ford Sollers engine plant in Yelabuga opened in September 2015 was the first foreign-brand engine-building enterprise in Russia. The new plant is equipped with the most advanced high-tech equipment; its production automation level reaches 95%. The engine production processes includes machining the crankshaft, cylinder head and cylinder block, assembly line, and a quality control line. The equipment at every department meets all the requirements of productivity, environmental friendliness, and safety in accordance with the global Ford standards
