On October 19, 2019, Kazan hosted the 17th Republic’s competition of seamstress working skills among the light industry enterprises.

This year, participants from four cities of Tatarstan – Kazan, Aznakayevo, Bugulma and Kukmor – fought for the title of the best seamstress.

The competition committee includes representatives of the KNRTU’s Institute of Light Industry Technology, Fashion, and Design, the Republic’s Federation of the Trade Unions of Textile and Light Industry Workers, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan. The committee evaluated the contestants in theoretical and practical areas. So, the participants answered questions in the field of the fashion industry and demonstrated their skills in sewing welt pockets.

The competition winners were awarded with diplomas of the Republic’s Federation of the Trade Unions of Textile and Light Industry Workers and money prizes. In addition, all participants received valuable gifts.

The working skills competition among the republic’s light industry enterprises has been held annually since 2003. Such an event contributes to increasing the prestige of working trades and attracting young people to study and seek jobs in the sector.

Dear current and retired employees of textile and light industries! On behalf of the Government of Tatarstan, let me congratulate you on your professional holiday, the Day of Textile and Light Industry Workers!

The Tatarstan’ light industry is a segment that not only produces clothing, footwear, leather goods, but is also one of the important sectors of republic’s economy meeting the needs of health care, agriculture, automotive, and furniture industries.

Please accept our sincerest words of appreciation for your dedication to the industry, diligent work, professionalism, knowledge, and creative approach in finding new solutions to your work.

I would also like to express my special gratitude to the industry’s long-service employees transferring their best traditions and skills to the younger generation. It should be noted that at the WorldSkills Russia 2019, contestants from Tatarstan won the highest award on the Fashion Technology skill. In this context, my special thanks go to mentors and experts for the successful preparation of participants and their decent performance at the National Competition.

On this festive day, I sincerely wish you and your families good health, prosperity, new labour achievements, and confidence in the future!
