KAMAZ continues to develop import substitution area

The assembly section of new cabs at the KAMAZ Automobile Plant received a commercial batch of new localised component, Floor Carpet Kit, for KAMAZ-5490 tractor units and for KAMAZ-65206 and KAMAZ-65207 trucks. The new floor covering became an alternative to the products from Daimler, whose deliveries would cease in October. Thirty-six cabs have already tried the first carpet kits. This event was preceded by a lot of work, started early in the year.

The selection of the supplier was followed by the purchase of two test kits for trial assembly. Russian carpets have passed necessary tests in the laboratories of the KAMAZ Research and Development Centre and in the non-metallic materials laboratory of the Technology Centre. Tests were conducted to assess frost resistance at - 45°C, fire resistance, heat resistance at + 80°C, oil resistance, face layer strength, and sound absorption coefficient. As a result, a positive opinion was received for its manufacturing application.

The new parts are made of polyurethane foam covered with a layer of durable artificial leather using the advanced Skin Spray technology process. It has excellent sound-absorbing properties and good-looking appearance. Regular shipments of carpets will commence in the autumn. The nominated supplier is currently expanding its facilities to ensure full import substitution and uninterrupted supply.

Minnikhanov: some 120,000 work in our mechanical engineering sector today

There are more than 3,000 mechanical engineering enterprises employing about 120,000 people in the republic today. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said this today in Naberezhnye Chelny at a ceremony dedicated to the Mechanical Engineer’s Day. Before the official ceremony, the President toured an exhibition of products manufactured by Tatarstan’s mechanical engineering companies. The exhibition displayed trucks, buses, tractors, electric cars, charging stations, gas turbine power plants, medical equipment, etc. Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the industry workers on their professional holiday and stressed that despite all the difficulties, this year there has been a dynamic growth in the indicators of the enterprises. During the first seven months of 2021, products worth RUB 408 billion were shipped, which is 1.5 times higher than in 2019. Positive changes are shown both by large companies and midsize enterprises in small towns. The Tatarstan President also expressed gratitude to long-service workers of the sector, noting that many companies employ several generations of working families. Then, President Minnikhanov presented a number of Tatarstan awards for great contribution to the development of the mechanical engineering sector.

Minister Karimov met with students of KNRTU-KHTI

Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov held an open meeting with students of the Kazan National Research Technological University. During the event, Minister Karimov delivered a comprehensive speech on the topic “Tatarstan’s Manufacturing Industry as the Main Driver of Regional Economic Development”, during which he outlined the main achievements of industrial sectors in Tatarstan and spoke about the main achievements and trends in the republic’s manufacturing industry development. In his welcome address he pointed out that the main source of labour productivity is the transition to Industry 4.0, the industrial revolution based on massive implementation of information technologies. Today, a marking system is applied in production facilities that allows one to track the location of a product. There are examples of smart factories where machines communicate with each other via the internet and produce personalised products without human intervention.
