Kastamonu plant switched to closed water supply system

14 June 2017, Wednesday

In the course of ramping up the production of its core products (MDF and laminate boards), the Kastamonu plant in the Special Economic Zone Alabuga gradually switched to 100% recycling of process water. This became possible due to the uninterrupted and efficient operation of the new treatment facilities at the enterprise.

The unique character of the treatment facilities at Kastamonu is that a multi-stage membrane filtration system allows purifying water at the molecular level. Industrial wastewater is not diverted to the sewerage system of the SEZ Alabuga, but reintroduced into the production facilities and recycled for process needs after the purification.

The designed capacity of the nanofiltration system at the Kastamonu treatment facilities is 15 cubic metres of purified water per hour.
