Tatarstan takes lead in investment attractiveness in Volga Federal District

Today, the Kazan City Hall hosted a meeting of the Commission for Improving Investment Climate, Reducing Administrative Barriers, and Encouraging Small and Medium-Sized Businesses in the Volga Federal District.

The meeting was attended by Presidential Envoy to the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich, Director General of the Federal Corporation for SME Development Aleksandr Braverman, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov, heads of republic’s ministries and agencies, representatives of regions within the Volga Federal District, law enforcement agencies, and various financial institutions.

In his welcoming speech, Rustam Minnikhanov said that many activities aimed at improving the investment climate and supporting entrepreneurship in Tatarstan are being implemented with the support of the federal centre. They are focused on developing favourable conditions for doing business, implementing long-term investment projects, and upgrading production facilities. The relevant growth points in the republic are the facilities of the entrepreneurial support infrastructure, such as special economic zones, technoparks, and industrial parks.

In turn, Mikhail Babich noted during his speech that Tatarstan holds the lead in investment attractiveness in the Volga Federal District. Touching upon the issue of measures for the development of small and medium-sized businesses, Babich noted that a strategy for the SME development until 2030 was approved in 2016.
