On 4 December 2015, PAO KAMAZ engine plant celebrated the 40th anniversary since the first engine was produced.
In December 1975, a new era of motor industry has started. The first KAMAZ-740 engine caused revolution in USSR’s transport development. Diesel engines replaced the petrol ones: they were more reliable and cost efficient.
The first engines were manually collected and moved from stand to stand. Then an automated assembly line was launched. There were 20 years left before the next stage, Euro 1 engine of ecologic type.
The plant entered the new millennium with a new diesel engine. Mass production of Euro-2 type engines began. In the early 2000s, a new generation of engines that met Euro 3 requirements was produced.
Since 2008, the plant produces various Euro-4 engine models, which are used for many types of heavy and passenger vehicles. Their power is 450 hp, they are safer and more cost efficient.
Currently the engine plant is going through the next stage of development with the reengineering project at KAMAZ.
